Born to Korean parents and raised in Panama, Dr. Alex had a truly multicultural upbringing.

Growing up, a typical day consisted of playing “fútbol” at school, reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer for homework, but eating “kimchi” at dinner. At the age of 18, Dr. Alex moved to Philadelphia where he studied Diplomatic History at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. Inspired by a dental mission trip, Dr. Alex ultimately decided to pursue a career in Dentistry at the University of California, Los Angeles. Upon graduation, he continued his training at the Montefiore Medical Center in New York, obtaining his specialty certification in Pediatric Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the College of Diplomates.

Currently, Dr. Alex splits his time between teaching and caring for his patients. As an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California, he is constantly keeping up to date with the latest techniques, materials, and literature. As a clinician, he prides himself in practicing as conservatively as possible while putting the needs of his patients and families first.

When not practicing dentistry, he enjoys beach runs with his dog, Nala, playing soccer, and practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
